KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association in Karachi has announced to shut down Out Patient Departments (OPDs) and operation theatres at all hospitals from Monday.

Young Doctors Association Sindh President doctor Abbas Shah has said that despite several meetings with the Sindh government the doctor’s demands have not been met.

According to a previous report published in The Express Tribune, a committee was set up by the chief minister which agreed to a uniform pay policy in the province, which means that a major grudge — that of Punjab’s doctors having a higher salary – would be put to rest.

Shah said the doctors will go on strike from Monday and operation theatres and Out Patient Departments at all local hospitals will be closed.

Doctors from Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Nawabshah and Larkana have also announced to back the strike call.

Doctor Shah said their strike will continue until their have been met. However - he said the emergency departments of hospitals will not be affected by the strike.
