Kohat WSSC holds awareness walk

KOHAT: To raise awareness about a clean environment, an awareness walk was arranged in Kohat.

The walk had been organised by the Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Kohat in collaboration with the Trade union.

The walk — led by WSSC Chief Executive Officer Arif Rauf —started from Tehsil Gate with participants marching to King’s Gate in which a large number of traders from various markets and citizens participated.

The participants carried banners and play cards inscribed with different slogans about a clean environment.

During the walk, the WSSC chief said that a healthy society is possible only when citizens keep their environment clean. He added that a number of dangerous diseases are the byproduct of filthy surroundings and stagnation of dirty water.

He urged residents of the area and the public to make sure the proper use of dustbin and avoid the habit of throwing garbage everywhere.

He added that maintaining the city clean is not only the duty of district administration but also the responsibility of every citizen, reminding that cleanliness was also a part of our faith.

Biodegradable bags were also distributed among the shopkeepers and were briefed about its usage.

Trade Market Union Chairman Ameer Khan Afridi urged people, especially customers, to use biodegradable bags which can easily decompose instead of the plastic shopping bags.
