Addressing lawyers at the Charsadda Judicial Complex, Justice Nisar vowed to ensure that no fundamental rights of the people violated. "I asked the chief minister how many new institutions have been formed in Peshawar and other cities, and in the education sector, he failed to give me a satisfactory response," he added.
CJP directs IGPs to withdraw security for influential men
The chief justice further pointed that under Article 25-A of the Constitution, right to education is being violated, "who will enforce it?" he questioned.
The top judge also said that it is the outdated laws that are a hurdle in the timely administration of justice and it is now the right time to update these laws. “Most of our laws are outdated and in dire need of being drafted to be in tune with modern times.”
He urged senior lawyers to huddle, arrange workshops and find techniques to help the top court provide timely justice to the masses and asked them to provide recommendations to update the old laws.
Talking regarding the delaying of justice in the courts, he added he has even decided cases in the SC that date back to his date of birth (1954) and multiple cases still exist that were filed decades ago in 1985.
“But I’m unable to explain to the complainants why I have delayed the justice for so long,” he told lawyers. “It is my fault. It is the fault of this system; we all are responsible for it and we all have to correct the system,” he added.
“Our judiciary has to deliver, the time to do that is now. If we couldn’t deliver the country will not be able to achieve what it wants,” the chief justice remarked. The CJP, while explaining his efforts as chief justice, said that he is struggling just to ensure the fundamental rights of the masses. He added that all suo motu notices taken are for violations of basic rights of Pakistani citizens.
He also asked the lawyers for their support to ensure the public their rights to public and remove the public miseries. “I am always ready to struggle to provide you yours fundamental rights. if here someone inform me about his rights violation, I will set my court here and will provide him justice.”
The CJP also praised the construction of the new judicial complex in Charsadda and said that it is one of the best judicial complexes in the world. He appreciated the efforts of the Chief Justice Peshawar high Court Yahya Afridi for his efforts towards the constructithe on of judicial complex. However, he added that a building is just a structure, the people in it make the institution.
CJP demands ‘solution’ to PFF problems
Earlier, Justice Nisar was welcomed on arrival by protesters of workers welfare board demanding the CJP to issue orders of regularisation of their services.
“Since the last seven years, 3,000 of our employees are working without any services structure,” the protestors informed.
