Court rejects Nawaz's seven-day exemption plea

Former premier, Maryam left for London on Wednesday

An accountability court on Friday rejected former Nawaz Sharif's plea for a seven-day extension from appearing in court in a corruption reference lodged against him.

Excepting the former premier's exemption from court for Friday, the elder Sharif and daughter are scheduled to appear before the court on Monday.

Earlier, Nawaz said that he wanted to spend maximum time with wife Kulsoom, Express News reported.

Sharif told reporters in London he had been meeting doctors in London in connection with Kulsoom's health. “She has gotten very weak,” he said. Sharif also requested for prayers for his spouse.



Kulsoom has been undergoing treatment at a London hospital. She was admitted to the facility again after her condition deteriorated.

Doctors had hoped Kulsoom’s health would take a turn for the better after six chemotherapy sessions. She has not recovered in line with their expectations.  Sharif and daughter Maryam had proceeded to London on Wednesday to see ailing Kulsoom.
