KARACHI:

More than 100 students came to the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi (BIEK) on Saturday and forced the board’s administration to receive their exam registration forms for the higher secondary examinations scheduled to start from May 16.

Heated arguments ensued and the administration had to call the police to control the situation.

BIEK examination controller Mohammad Imran Khan Chishti said that chairman Prof Anwar Ahmedzai had given prospective candidates one last chance to students to submit the forms from May 9 to May 12. But these students did not adhere to the deadline, he said.

Chisti said that some students regularly submit the forms after the deadline every year and they also want the board to form a new examination centre for them, but this will not be accepted.

Meanwhile, activists of students’ organisations also came and demanded a change in their examination centres as they felt insecure because of their ethnicity. But Chishti refused and told them that the board was ensuring complete security at all centres.

Separately, students of different colleges went to the Inter Board with complaints about not receiving their admit cards not time.

The BIEK examination controller explained the board had distributed admit cards to all colleges a week ago, but some colleges’ management had lost the admit cards. He assured that all arrangements for this year’s annual examinations were complete.
