HYDERABAD: In the gruesome rape and murder of a minor in Dadu district, the cousins of the victim have been nominated as the main culprits.

A 10-year-old boy was murdered on Tuesday, April 10. Within a week of the crime the Dadu district police declared on Sunday the suspects' arrests.

The suspects, Nawab Gopang and Hubdar Gopang, were produced before a local judge who sent them on a six-day physical remand. Though the police arrested a total of five suspects, Dadu SSP Qamar Raza Jiskani told the local media that only two suspects were involved in the crime.

The victim, who was a police constable's son, was found on Wednesday, April 11, lying dead on a wheat stack in Faraz Colony in Dadu. The child, who was a class five student, had left home with three friends earlier that night and did not return. His body was found the next morning.

The police first arrested Hubdar who allegedly confessed to raping and murdering the child and identified the other suspect as well. Later, Nawab was arrested and he also admitted his involvement in the crime, the police claimed. According to the family sources, Nawab received condolences for the deceased along with other family members for two days.

The victim's father said he was shocked when he came to know about the involvement of his son's cousins in the horrendous crime. He told the local media that he had been pondering the fact that he had no enemies whom he could suspect to be behind the murder of his son until he came to know that the cousins were involved in the crime.
