Possessing explosives: ATC sentences two men to three years

Accused were arrested during raid in Khanewal

MULTAN: An anti-terrorist court (ATC) awarded three years rigorous imprisonment to two members of a banned organisation for possessing explosives in Multan.

The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Malik Khalid Mahmood. The prosecution told the court that on October 12, 2017, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station conducted a raid at a hideout near Lahore Morr in Khanewal and arrested Muhammad Shabbir and Muhammad Khubaib.

The police also seized explosive material and three hand grenades from their possession. The police registered a case against the accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act and presented a challan in court.

During proceedings, the accused were found guilty and handed three years of rigorous imprisonment. The judge also ordered confiscating the property of the convicts.

Earlier, an anti-terrorist court in Faisalabad sentenced a man to five years for possessing explosives. The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Khalil Naz.
