A minor boy lost his life while playing what should have been just another game of innocuous ‘face-slapping’ with his schoolmates in Punjab’s Mian Channu tehsil earlier this month, with a video of the bizarre incident surfacing on Saturday.

Bilal, a sixth grade student at Government High School Khanewal 115/15-L started a game of ‘thappar-kabaddi’ (face-slapping) with his class fellow Amir.

However, an apparent harmless game turned deadly when Bilal was knocked down to the ground in a matter of seconds and failed to recover from the fatal blow from his friend, Express News reported.

45 minutes later, his body was sent home.

The incident points towards grave negligence on the part of police, school administration and parents of the victim.

Sources said that the school administration failed to take Bilal to hospital for medical treatment immediately after the incident and are equally responsible as the local police for not carrying out post-mortem of the body.

Headmaster Abid Hussain and parents of Bilal are also to be blamed as they did not inform police about the incident.
