Police official involved in Naqeebullah Mehsud extrajudicial murder presented before ATC

The former police official has been sent on seven-day physical remand

KARACHI: A police official involved in the alleged encounter of Naqeebullah Mehsud was presented before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday.

The official, Shakeel has served in the encounter team of suspended Malir SSP Rao Anwar. The ATC handed Shakeel to the police on a seven-day physical remand.

Anwar was flown to Karachi on March 21 after his arrest from the Supreme Court in Islamabad.

The former SSP Malir and his 10 arrested and 14 absconding subordinates were booked for allegedly abducting Naqeebullah Mehsud on January 7 and killing him along with three others on January 13 after non-payment of ransom.

The suspended SSP and his team had also framed Naqeeb and three other deceased – Mohammad Sabir, Nazar Jan and Mohammad Ishaq – in explosives and illicit weapons cases.
