LAHORE: Pakistan’s first National History Museum, established in Greater Park, is all set to digitally present all aspects of Pakistan's history according to international standards. The mega project has been completed in 14 months-time at a cost of Rs300 million.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the museum later this month.

One part of the museum shares tales from the War of Independence and the first few years of the new born state, while the digital walls and several other sections of the museum depict the Pakistan Movement and its inception.

The historic events, important statistics and speeches including several other aspects of the 17th century have been displayed at the digital library of the National History Museum.

A section of the museum displays pictures and mementos from the British era. The era from 1940 to 1960, the Pakistan Movement and its inception and the years after have been displayed as a timeline.

Similarly, another part of the museum depicts the Lahore Resolution, Quaid-e-Azam’s videos, speeches and scenes from migration.

The museum also highlights life after Pakistan's inception, including the condition of government offices, important aircrafts belonging to the Pakistan Army and the first train that carried people to Lahore after partition.

Meanwhile, a bogey of the train is also a part of the museum which displays videos of today and running trains through the 3D technology. Likewise, posters of Pakistani movies made in the initial era and pictures of the players have also been exhibited at the museum.

A separate gallery displaced portraits of heroes from the Independence Movement.

In addition, the museum will showcase stories about Pakistan using archival content such as newspaper articles, personal letters and firsthand accounts. It will use state-of-the-art technology and interactive games to enhance visitors’ experience and engage people of all ages. The amphitheatre will serve as a venue for a variety of cultural programmes.

Citizens Archives Pakistan has vouched for the authenticity of the historical pictures and events to assure that no mistake is made in highlighting the historic events.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, National History Museum Project Director Tahir Masood said that for the first time in Pakistan, the digital national history museum will highlight the important phases of Pakistan’s history while the heroes’ gallery and memorial walls are embellished with the Pakistan Movement and prominent figures of the country.

He added that the National History Museum Theatre will promote open door activities and will provide students an opportunity to learn.
