Across province: 276 screening camps for special children

Facility of blood test and screening of 31,000 children to be carried out

LAHORE: The Punjab government is setting up screening camps for differently-abled children in 276 schools across the province, said Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir.

He was inaugurating a screening camp at the Government Central High School for Deaf Gulberg on Monday. The facility of blood test and screening of more than 31,000 children would be carried out and so far 24,500 special children have been screened.

The minister said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, integrated screening camps have been established which produce positive results. He said that special children deserve special attention not only from their parents but also from the government.

The minister said that the department has formed teams of special doctors and staff for the camps and these teams are working in different phases in all districts.
