Police said that a man named Asghar Ali, along with his nephew Abdul Rehman, 10, was travelling on Faisalabad Road in a car when some unidentified armed people tried to stop the vehicle near Chak No 44/SB.
When the former offered resistance, the robbers opened fire on them and Abdul Rehman was killed on the spot, while Asghar was injured. He was shifted to DHQ hospital in critical condition. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, two men were killed in separate road accidents in Bhagtanwala and Atta Shaheed police limits.
The police said that Muhammad Arshed, a resident of Chak No 25/SB Morr, was riding a motorcycle on Lahore Road when a truck hit him. As a result, the motorcyclist died on the spot.
In another incident, a speeding truck crushed pedestrian Malik Ali to ath while he was crossing the road near Chak No 106/SB.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested a revenue official on charges of corruption.
ACE officials said that complainant Muhammad Anar Khan, a resident of Laluwali Village, through an application, alleged that revenue official Shafqat Hussain was demanding Rs30,000 as a bribe for transferring property to his name.
On the orders of the ACE Director, Circle Officer Malik Muhammad Tariq and Judicial Magistrate Aqeel Ahmad conducted a raid and reportedly caught the suspect red-handed and seized money from his possession.
Similarly, the ACE claimed to have arrested a stamp paper seller and his son for delivering fake driving licenses.
