Hygiene check: ICTA teams to analyse oil, banaspati samples

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) teams on Saturday carried out inspections at various outlets in the fruit and vegetable market and collected samples of 14 brands of cooking oil and banaspati being sold in the market. The samples were sent to the laboratory for chemical examination and analysis. Administration said action would be taken against brands not meeting hygiene standards.

ICTA teams impose fines of Rs1.615m on profiteers

The brands include Islamabad Banaspati, Phool Cooking Oil, Barkat Banaspati, Manpasand Banaspati, Islamabad Cooking Oil, and Shah Taj Banaspati.

ICT Food Department Deputy Director Muhammad Afzal vowed to ensure quality of food items, saying stern action would be taken against violators of hygienic rules. He said the food department teams had also imposed fines amounting to Rs69,000 on the unhygienic food outlets in the city.
