Headless chicken survives for over a week, adopted by monks

It is not clear what made the chicken lose its head but locals say it may have been attacked by another animal

A headless chicken has made the headlines around the world as it survives a beheading and has been adopted by monks, The Sun reported.

A video has gone viral when the bird got beheaded in Thailand, gaining more than 400,000 hits. The chicken has surprised the internet and has become the hot-topic of the town for surviving without a head for more than a week.

Pictures show the animal with only a bloodied stump where its head used to be. These photo were shared on social media by Noppong Thittammo but it is not clear whether he is the chicken’s owner.

Supakadee Arun Thong, a vet who decided to take care for the bird by dropping food down its neck and giving it antibiotics.

She said at the time, "The animal has its life. If it wants to live, we feed it." But she fears its tongue will soon fall off as it dries out.

It is not clear what made the chicken lose its head but locals say it may have been attacked by another animal.

Vet Supakadee said she was hoping someone would soon take the chicken off her hands.



She said, "Who will take him and care for him? He will need lifelong care.

"I have to admit that this chicken is a true warrior with a very tough heart."
