MQM-Pakistan councilor shot dead in Karachi target killing

The 35-year-old was killed by two armed assailants inside his own house

KARACHI: A leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) was shot dead in an apparent act of target killing in Orangi Town on Friday night.

Anis Siddiqui, 35, was killed when two men barged inside his house in Toori Bangash colony and opened indiscriminate fire. He succumbed to his injuries instantly after being shot multiple times.

The assailants managed to escape from the house located in the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market police station. The personnel of law enforcement agencies reached the site of the incident and started investigation.

Later, the body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Siddiqui served as Union Committee councilor of the party.

According to Orangi division superintendent police Abid Baloch, it was apparently an act of target killing. However, facts can only be ascertained after a thorough investigation.

In February, a worker of MQM-Pakistan was found dead in the Orangi Town neighbourhood in mysterious circumstances.
