Court rejects BISE Mirpurkhas officials’ bail pleas

BISE Mirpurkhas chairperson, controller of exams elude arrest by leaving as judge was dictating the order

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Court Hyderabad rejected on Monday the bail pleas of officials of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Mirpurkhas. BISE Mirpurkhas Chairperson Barkat Ali Hyderi and Controller of Exams Anwer Aleem Khanzada, who are among eight nominated in the FIR, eluded arrest by leaving the courtroom as the judge was dictating the order.

On January 26, 2018, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Karachi lodged FIR, accusing the nominated officers and staff of tampering with examination results. The charge sheet was submitted in the anti-corruption court on February 9, 2018.

They were booked under sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 477, 477A, 218 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Besides Hyderi and Khanzada, BS-17 computer programmer Muhammad Ahsan, BS-17 Secrecy Officer Qazi Fazaluddin, BS-16 superintendent Muhammad Asim Hashmi, Ramesh Kumar, Saqib, Jai Prakash and others have been nominated. ACE arrested earlier Ahsan and Asim and they remained in custody after the court rejected their bail.



The FIR was lodged following a raid at BISE Mirpurkhas conducted by ACE, Karachi. The ACE team secured the records and unearthed irregularities of tampering with results to give higher scores to some secondary school certificate and higher secondary certificate students. "The officials of BISE Mirpurkhas are involved in connivance with each other while misusing their official positions," claimed the IO.
