Challenging job: More women traffic wardens sought

Policewoman says they can better perform if the ITP provide them proper training and opportunity in traffic police

ISLAMABAD: Women commuters and motorists have demanded an increase in the numbers of female traffic wardens in federal capital. Banu Tariq said that Lahore Traffic Police also restarted its first seven-member lady traffic warden motorbike-patrolling batch to monitor traffic issues and maintain traffic flow on major roads of the city. She said that Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) should provide opportunities to women to work as Traffic Wardens too. Mareena Khan, a motorist said that women are more capable to work as a traffic warden, adding that initially may be they face some challenges but after some time people have to accept and appreciate their efficiency. A policewoman said that they can better perform their job if the ITP provide them proper training and opportunity in traffic police.
