ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded resignations from MNA Kulsoom Nawaz and Senator Ishaq Dar for not being able to be sworn in as parliamentarians.

According to a statement issued by the party’s Central Media Department, PTI has written to Speaker National Assembly and Chairman Senate seeking resignation of Kulsoom Nawaz and Ishaq Dar.

The letter was written by Central Secretary Information Fawad Chaudhry, which states that both Kulsoom Nawaz and Ishaq Dar had failed to fulfill legal requirement "for the winning candidate to take an oath in the National Assembly.

“Despite the fact that Kulsoom Nawaz was battling lymphoma since the diagnosis in August, she was made to contest NA-120 by-elections”, says Fawad Chaudhry in the letter. He also said that the delay in oath taking by Kulsoom Nawaz has deprived the people of NA-120 of representation.

The letter said that Ishaq Dar has been elected as senator, which is a blind eye to the fact that he has been declared absconder by the court. Fawad Chaudhry wrote that such moves spoil people’s confidence on democracy.

He urged Speaker National Assembly and Chairman Senate to take oath of the office from the two or seek resignations from them.

With regards to Kulsoom Nawaz’s health recovery, the lawyer said that “we pray for a healthy and early recovery of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz,” and added “we must also do justice with the millions of voters who are lacking representation only because of House of Sharif’s self-will and hardheadedness.
