Talking to a news channel, Suleman shared figures of rice shipments for the period July to February 2017-18.
For the first eight months of FY18, 2.6 million tons of rice valuing at $1.2 billion were exported.
In the corresponding period of previous financial year, the exporters had shipped 2.27 million tons amounting to $961 million.
This showed a growth of 27% in terms of value in FY18 and 14% in terms of volume.
“We have come out of the crisis that we have been encountering for the last three years,” Suleman remarked.
With coordination among rice exporters, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Customs department, rice exports were improving, he said.
“REAP members are also putting in efforts and engaging in aggressive marketing to step up exports and earn foreign exchange for Pakistan,” he added.
