Taking action: LG commission members assigned duties

LAHORE: The government assigned duties to members of the Punjab Local Government Commission for monitoring different districts and institutions.

Every member will be responsible for checking the financial affairs and efficiency of their district and shall present a report to the provincial government, said Punjab Local Government Minister Muhammad Manshaullah Butt, while addressing a meeting on Sunday.

With the formation of the commission, the local government system has been completed, he said. People will soon start reaping the benefits of this initiative, he added.

The minister emphasised that the female councillors will also be given their due roles and their issues would be resolved on a priority basis.

He stated that the corrupt elements, land mafia and those involved in misusing authority and will have to face strict action under the law.
