The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa information department has denied having released orders to restrain the so-called stylish beards.

"No directives [banning the beards] have been issued, neither the hairdressers have been warned of penalty or punishment," the department said in a statement on Friday.

The department said that any organisation releasing such orders will be tantamount to challenging the writ of the government and harassing the masses.

It further said that terming stylish beards as a violation of Islamic conduct is an attempt to sow unrest in the society, which will be dealt with strictly.

Resolution passed to impose ban on 'stylish' beards in DG Khan

Last month, Dera Ghazi Khan District Council has passed a resolution for imposing a ban on growing beard of various designs.

According to the resolution, shaping beards in fashionable styles (French cut, goatee) was inconsistent with the teachings of Islam and goes against the Sunnah.

The resolution demanded that Dera Ghazi Khan Deputy Commissioner should be directed to impose a ban on various designs of beard common among youth these days.
