Faisal Sabzwari criticises MQM leaders for visiting CM House a day before Senate elections

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) - Pakistan’s Sindh Assembly MPA Faisal Sabzwari has expressed disappointment over his party leaders’ visit to Chief Minister House.

Sabzwari has expressed fear of losing the Senate elections due to conflicts ensuing within the party. In his briefing to media, he said that strife within the party will break up the vote bank and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will emerge as the political beneficiary of this discord.



“Farooq Sattar and Khalid Maqbool announced joint candidates in light of expected losses due to distributed votes,” he said, adding that a few leaders of the party had even contacted the PPP.

He requested his MPAs not to get frustrated over the ongoing crisis within the party. “It is unjust that [our] votes are pocketed by the PPP. The CM House visit by two female MQM MPAs is disappointing.  The PPP will benefit on the behest of one person's actions.”



Sabzwari said that Sattar and Maqbool did not want their conflict to affect votes of the party, which is why they ended up with common nominations for Senate.

“MQM has united itself,” he said. “Nomination of candidates has always been an organisational affair rather than a one-man job. The situation we have been facing since February 5 is depressing. The ensuing conflicts will only benefit the PPP.”

He further said that MQM was in contact with the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League (PML)-Functional and PML-Nawaz. “We are trying to bag five Senate seats this time” he said. “Maqbool and Sattar still disagree on policy stance, with Kamran Tessori permitted to contest despite popular disagreement.”
