LAHORE: Eight people, including women, were injured when a passenger van collided with a wall in Raiwind on Friday. Police said the victims were on their way to Lahore from Raiwind. As soon as they reached near Bhombtian Chowk Raiwind Road, the driver lost control due to speeding. As a result, the vehicle collided with a wall, injuring eight people. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Jinnah Hospital. Six of the injured were discharged after the treatment while two victims, identified as Sughran Naimat, 24, and Shirin Roomi, 30, were admitted. Police collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements of the witnesses. Causalities and injuries due to road traffic accidents is a serious issue in the country. Over 420 people lost their lives in road accidents in 2017 in Lahore alone.
