Career counselling: Varsity, schools need to enhance interaction

KMU urged to include assembly visits in their social integration programme

PESHAWAR: To bridge the gap between educational institutions, it was important to enhance interaction between universities and schools for career counselling and professional competence is the need of the hour.

This was stated by K-P Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr Mehar Taj Roghani while addressing the concluding session of a social integration project of Khyber Medical University (KMU) in collaboration with HEC.

Dr Roghani said the reason behind the development of the advanced nations is their investment and giving top priority to all levels of education. She added that the incumbent government was according top-most priority to implementing educational reforms. She noted that KMU had taken a unique step by integrating different health-related educational fields such as medical, dental, physiotherapy, nursing, paramedics, basic sciences and health education and public health.

“Nursing and paramedics are noble professions and we should encourage our youth to opt for these professions,” Dr Roghani said, as she praised KMU’s role for integration of different health-related programmes from undergraduate to post-graduate level.

She also advised KMU authorities to incorporate visits to the provincial assembly in their social integration programme for school children and KMU students.
