LAHORE:

The ‘Western’ summer festival was held at the National College of Arts on Sunday to welcome the incoming batch of students.

Osama, a first-year student, said the festival was a welcome change after being ragged by seniors up till now. He said he felt a part of the students’ community after attending the event. “I now expect my stay at NCA to be more exciting,” he said.

Sehar Hashmi, a Miniature Art student, said the festival was important for the incoming batch because they got to interact with seniors and develop friendships that would be helpful throughout their stay at the college. She said they had been rehearsing for over a week to make the event a success. She said this year the theme of the event was ‘hippies’ and everyone was asked to dress up accordingly.

Performances by the Dance Society and skits including Alif Adaab were the hallmark of the event. Alif Adaab was a comedy about an argument between rail passengers who had ended up in the wrong compartment and the ticket collector.

Students also performed 90s pop song Mr Fraudiye and parodied Prof Imran Qureshi.
