Two new UoT departments in the offing

VC says working on ‘green and clean university’; event organised to welcome freshmen

University of Turbat (UoT) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir has announced that his institution will start two new departments in the next academic year.

“The university started its journey of disseminating higher education with three departments and 160 students but now we have reached 10 departments with thousands of students in just four years after its transformation from a sub campus of Balochistan University into a full-fledged university in 2013,” said Dr Sabir during an event organised by senior students to welcome the freshmen on Monday.

Faculty of Management Sciences Dean Prof Dr Munir Ahmed Gichki, Controller Examinations Tanvir Ahmed, Gwadar Campus Director Ijaz Ahmed, Deputy Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, heads of departments and students in large number were in attendance.

Appreciating the efforts of faculty members and administrative staff for achieving several milestones in four years, Dr Sabir said, “We never compromise on merit and now we are working on the slogan ‘green and clean university’ as it is the core responsibility of all stakeholders.”

Welcoming the newly enrolled students in an amiable fashion, the VC said, “Such programmes provide an excellent opportunity for junior students to become familiar with the faculty, students and extra-curricular activities, including social and other recreational events.”

He said that moving to a new university could be both exciting and challenging and such events would help meet new people and understand the way of living and studying in UoT.

On the occasion, UoT Registrar Dr Haneefur Rahman, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Prof Dr Abdul Saboor said that despite many hardships and formidable challenges, the UoT faculty members and administrative staff had not lost their passion for disseminating quality higher education and promoting research culture in the university. “Eventually they will overcome all challenges and put the university on the track of success,” they added.

Following the philosophy of tradition, innovation and excellence is our responsibility,” they said. “We will devote our energy not only for the development of quality education at the university but to produce good human beings which can contribute for the good of the society.”

Law department of Turbat University inaugurated

Extolling the efforts of students in organising such a motivational and inspirational event, the speakers said that the UoT students could bring about positive changes in society through their knowledge and behaviour under the guidance of dedicated and passionate teachers and supportive administrative staff.

The senior and junior students reaffirmed their commitment towards growth and development of the university through their speeches, poetry, various recreational and artistic performances on different themes during the programme.
