Men shot dead a journalist in Mirpurkhas while he was attending the wedding of his nephew.


The victim, 45-year-old Ashraf Panhwer, was a reporter for the Sindhi daily, Sobh. The assailants fired at him from close range and escaped from the scene. The news editor of Sobh told The Express Tribune that the police has made an arrest in connection with the murder but they have not revealed any further details. District Administrator Ghulam Hussain Memon, MQM zonal incharge Azeem Danish, Sindh Assembly member Faheem Altafi and scores of journalists rushed to Civil hospital on hearing the news. Journalist groups condemned the murder.
