While presiding over a meeting on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani said that Punjab government was focusing on promotion of sports and grooming the youth physically and mentally.
He said that an amount of Rs73.5 million was being spent on completion of floodlights, cricket ground and pavilion in Shehbaz Sharif Sports Stadium, Firdous Colony.
He added that funds worth Rs63 million were being incurred on establishing hockey and football grounds near Samanabad adjacent to Rakh Branch Canal.
In addition, Rs73.8 million were being spent on upgradation of Bohrrwali Cricket Ground, pavilion, installation of floodlights and drainage system, he maintained.
The deputy commissioner pointed out that a cricket pitch and hockey ground had been prepared outside hockey stadium in Madina Town at a cost of Rs73.7 million.
Salman Ghani said that gymnasium costing Rs65 million for indoor games was near completion in Kalim Shaheed Park, Ghulam Muhammad Abad while cricket and football grounds were being constructed in Shahbaz Nagr with a cost of Rs73.3 million.
