Two men die in firing at electronic shop

Separately, owner of general store shot dead in Orangi Town

KARACHI: An electronic items' shop owner and his friend were shot dead on Wednesday in an act of targeted killing in the outskirts of the metropolis.

The incident took place in the Naseerabad area within the limits of the Bin Qasim Town police station. Officials said the incident occurred when at least two unidentified motorcyclists with covered faces opened indiscriminate fire on the shop. As a result, two people were severely injured and died on their way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The deceased were identified as 35-year-old Omar Khan, son of Moosa Khan, and 40-year-old Nawab Khan, son of Haji Sultan. The assailants managed to escape.

SHO Dhani Bux Marri said Omar was the owner of the shop where the firing took place. He had been selling electronic items on installments for the last many years. The SHO added that the other deceased was Omar's friend and was sitting at the shop at the time of the incident. Both the victims were residents of the Pipri area.

Man shot dead over land dispute

A contingent of the law enforcers reached the site to investigate the incident and recovered at least five empty shells of a 9mm pistol. While quoting initial investigations, the police officials said that the incident did not take place during a robbery bid. They added that initial investigations suggested that the incident occurred over personal enmity. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.

Separately, a man was shot dead in an act of targeted killing in Orangi Town. Police officials said the deceased was a resident of Baloch Goth and the incident took place when he was sitting near his house.

SHO Haseeb Qureshi said the deceased was identified as Ashiq Ali and he ran a general store near his residence. SHO Qureshi added that Ali had a dispute with a person, Ashraf Magsi, who was accused of the murder by the victim's family. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.
