ABBOTTABAD: A delegation of around 30 local government members has travelled to the provincial capital of Peshawar to lodge their protest against alleged corruption in the Abbottabad Beautification Project.

As many as 27 Tehsil Council members of Abbottabad met at the Abbottabad Tehsil Nazim Ishaque Zakariya’s office on Monday. It was attended by members of the council, including those from the ruling party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and their allies — the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), along with members of other parties.

They said that resolution was passed against the alleged corruption of Rs1.19 billion in the project by Engineer Amjad Hussain and for his removal. The Abbottabad tehsil nazim said that the funds were wasted through ill-planned schemes and projects while in most of the cases, roads which required small patch repairs were being re-built.
