Emergency courses: Paid courses to train professionals

LAHORE: Paid courses and training for emergency medical technicians (EMTs) by Punjab Emergency Services Rescue 1122 (ESA), in collaboration with Institute of Learning Emergency Medicine (ILEM), were revealed on Monday.

ESA, being a government institution, has a history of providing free training to EMTs. It is unprecedented that they were going to charge Rs8,000 each for a course.

A correspondence between Rescue 1122 Director General Rizwan Naseer and University of Health Sciences Lahore’s Biochemistry Deputy Director Assistant Professor Dr Mansoor Ghani stated, “Please find attached account details for the submission of the Registration fee of EMT. The payment in total will be PKR 8, 000, participants to be paid in soft installments. Initial submission of PKR 2,000, each has to be submitted to the attached account i.e.
