BAHAWALPUR: Police recovered Rs0.175 million alleged to have been stolen during a robbery.

Farhan Ahmed lodged a complaint against his employee Abdul Shakoor who claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint by four unknown men on motorcycles.

The complaint stated that Ahmed, who owns a poultry business, had hired Shakoor to help with supplying chicken to restaurants and to collect payments. When Ahmed was home, he received a call from Shakoor who said that he had been robbed near Library Chowk. On questioning, Shakoor said that the police had been informed. By the time the two arrived at the scene of the crime, police had arrived.

After interrogation, Shakoor confessed to stealing the money and promised to return it. Ahmed added that a month ago Shakoor collected Rs0.1 million from a customer and kept Rs50,000 for himself, calling it a loan which he has not paid back.

In his complaint, Ahmed demanded action against Shakoor for his criminal intent. He believes that he would do the same if given another chance.

SHO Farhan Hussain said that they visited the scene after being informed of the snatching. However, after observing Shakoor’s suspicious behavior, they shifted him to the police station where he confessed to dumping the money in the bushes.

Following his directions, police recovered the money in the bushes near Canal Rest House, after which it was handed over to Ahmed.

Cantt Police station has registered the case and already started proceedings.
