RAWALPINDI: Despite the deaths of five women at the Benzair Bhutto General Hospital due to the alleged negligence of doctors and the staff, not a single inquiry report has been made public. After the incidents, committees have been formulated for investigation purposes; however, the matter was suppressed in the files.

Despite the surge in the negligence of the male and female doctors, callous  attitude of the staff with patients, careless and apathetic behaviour towards patients in serious condition, the hospital administration could not take measures to resolve the situation. Out of the five cases, one of the cases reached the Punjab Health Care Commission. Finally, the commission sought the MS and doctors with all the records on February 26.

The complaint filed by the High Court lawyer Shazia Kausar discusses the attitude of the doctors and staffs from the time of admission of her mother to the hospital till her death on 8th of November. MS Dr Arshad Ali Sabir, Dr Bilal, Dr Mahwish and Dr Ayesha Niazi have been made the respondents.

Advocate High Court Shazia Kausar stated that there had been noticeable negligence on the part of the doctors and staffs during the course of treatment before the death of her mother. She will take the matter to a logical conclusion so that no such tragic incident ever occurs with any mother that while a patient is breathing his last, the doctors remain busy in Facebooking and WhatsApping.

It is pertinent here to mention that earlier, the four women who died at the hospital due to negligence of the staff and the doctors included Shakriyal resident, 23 year old Bano Bibi and Anita in gynae ward, Ayesha Bibi in the emergency ward and Kaneez Bibi in the orthopedic ward. The family of the victims alleging negligence on the part of doctors and staff demanded inquiry into the matter. For that purpose, separate inquiry committees had also been formulated but so far, no inquiry report has surfaced.
