KARACHI:

A division bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Chief Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, asked the Sindh police to submit the investigation and progress report for the Ali Muhammad Dahri murder case within 10 days.

Dahri was a senior lawyer from Nawabshah and a member of the Sindh Bar Council. He was murdered on April 28 and the incident sent shockwaves through bar councils and lawyer groups across Pakistan, who responded with strikes.

The judges were hearing a petition arising from a suo motu notice into the killing after the SHC Bar Association requested the chief justice to order a probe.

AIG Legal Anwar Subhani, appearing for the Inspector General of Police, informed the bench that police have arrested four suspects. Preliminary investigations have indicated that Dahri may have been murdered in a family dispute. The AIG asked for more time to hold a proper and conclusive investigation.
