LHC issues notice to Nawaz Khokhar

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued notices to former deputy speaker National Assembly Haji Nawaz Khokhar on an appeal of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against his acquittal from a corruption reference under National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

A division bench of the LHC on November 17, 2008 had set aside imprisonment and fine awarded to Khokhar by an accountability court. The NAB in its appeal pleaded that he was acquitted under NRO and after the cancellation of the ordinance by Supreme Court the reference against him stood reopened. The bench headed by Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry issued notice for June 3.
