“We shouldn’t be mocked for berating the judiciary because it was the PML-N that fought for the restoration of judges and the judiciary,” Rafique said while addressing workers in his constituency.
“We cannot seal our lips if we are not given justice, but still the PML-N has shown restraint in revealing the facts and would continue to do so,” the minister said.
He said if the PML-N lifted the curtain on what had been happening in Islamabad for the past four years there would be nothing left for its nemesis to do politics on.
Rafique said, “We do not consider anyone as our enemy in politics. We all strive for common goals and that common goal is the betterment of Pakistan.”
He denied the existence of any plans aimed at thwarting the democratic process in the country. “Our political rivals should stop spreading rumors about dissolution of assemblies and delay in the Senate elections.”
The firebrand PML-N leader said they had no confrontation with any state institution. “We respect the army as well as the judiciary,” he said, adding it was a moral obligation to make those institutions stronger.
He said political opponents of the PML-N should be ashamed of their performance, adding the PPP and the PTI should make Karachi and Peshawar better than Lahore “if they want to criticise us”.
He said that Karachi was ahead of Lahore, but now Lahore has taken lead due to “our hard work”.
“If it hadn’t been for Asif Ali Zardari, the PPP would have been a tough rival to beat,” he said, adding, “On the other hand instead of serving the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Imran Khan has fled to his house in mountains.”
