Kidnapping case registered after 6 years

FIR registered on order of missing persons’ commission

ISLAMABAD: Police have registered a case for kidnapping almost six years after a resident went missing from the capital.

Muhammad Faisal had been allegedly kidnapped by unidentified people from Sector G-10/3 on January 1, 2012.

A case for his abduction was registered by the Ramna police on January 27, 2018.

The First Information Report (FIR) comes after Faisal’s’ father had approached the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances.

The commission had subsequently issued directions to the Islamabad Police to register a case for kidnapping.  An officer from the Ramna police station said that the alleged incident took place even before the police station had started its operations in 2012. He went on to claim that the complainant never approached officers at the station over the past six years.

He, however, said that the police had registered a case. When asked whether any further action was taken, the officer replied they had yet to start an inquiry.

While quoting the complainant, the officer said that over the past six years, Faisal had written to his father at least once, informing him that he was in Karachi and would return home soon.

Meanwhile, a young woman was allegedly kidnapped in Sohan area of the capital on January 24. The woman’s brother has lodged a complaint against a man for allegedly abducting his sister.

Police have registered a case under section 365-B (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel for marriage) of the Pakistan Penal Code and have launched an investigation.
