LAHORE: Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notices to the federal government, the Election Commission of Pakistan, speaker National Assembly and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in a petition in which the notification issued by the ECP of denotifying the former PM was challenged. Petitioner Ghulam Yaseen Bhatti contended the court that the notification issued by the ECP of denotifying the former PM from National Assembly on July 28, 2017 was illegal. He said under article 95-A, a prime minister could be removed with vote of no confidence. He prayed the court the illegal notification of the ECP be declared null and void.
