KARACHI: Pakistan has launched a fresh move to rope in a foreign coach for its hockey team before this year’s Asian Games.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has contacted Dutch coach Michel van den Heuvel and Australian Barry Dancer and the former has shown interest in a coaching stint with the Pakistan team.

“We are in contact with some foreign coaches as we want to raise a strong team for the Asian Games,” confirmed Asif Bajwa, the PHF Secretary General, while talking to Daily Express on Tuesday. He hoped that they would be successful in acquiring the services of a foreign coach by June. The PHF avoided disclosing the name of foreign coaches that they are in touch with but sources claim that the federation has approached the two coaches and has assured them of foolproof security during their stay in Pakistan.
