Governor honours shining students with laptops

Laptops distributed in Islamia University as Phase IV begins

BAHAWALPUR: Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana distributed laptops under Phase-IV of the Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme at a ceremony in Islamia University of Bahawalpur on Tuesday.

He said that policies of the government had promoted education at every level in the province. “Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif focused on education and equipped the students with latest IT gadgets to enhance their capacities to face challenges of the 21st century,” he added.

He said that a guard of honour was given to heads of state in the past, but it was being presented to shining students today as a reward of their hard work. “The government had paid special attention to the social and economic development of southern Punjab, especially Bahawalpur. As a result, the region has flourished in the field of education with the opening of new colleges and universities in the area,” he added.



The governor said he was happy to see the presence of immense talent in the youth. He praised the academic and administrative achievements of the university and appreciated the discipline and beauty of the campus.

Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq, Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tallat Afza, Provincial Assembly members Fauzia Ayub Qureshi and Haseena Bagum, Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Rana Saleem Afzal, District Police Officer Capt (Retd) Mustansar Feroz, Chamber of Commerce representatives Malik Allah Baksh Kuliyar, Malik Habibullah Bhutta and Syed Tabish Alwari, teachers and students were also present on the  occasion.
