Going into the last-eight tie, Aisam and his Polish partner Marcin Matkowski were having an impressive run in the tournament, having registered two straight-set wins. In the first round, they defeated Demoliner and Treat Huey and won against Robert Lindstedt  and Croatia’s Franko Skugor in the second round. On both occasions, the scoreline was 7-6, 6-4.

In the round-of-16 clash against Moldova’s Radu Albot and South Korea’s Hyeon Chung, Aisam and Matkowski were given a walkover after their opponents retired.

However, it was a totally different story in the last-eight clash against one of the tournament’s favourites, who showed their supremacy over Aisam and his partner by registering a thumping straight sets victory with a 6-1, 6-4 scoreline.
