To a question about the previous incident of violence at the university, the minister said, “If action was taken against those responsible back then, the then vice chancellor (Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir) would have remained in his position and the current incident would not have happened.”
In a statement, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zakria Zakir said that those involved in the incident would be punished without any discrimination. He said the administration would uphold the law at the university at any cost.
“The university administration has evidence with which the perpetrators will be punished.” On the directions of the vice chancellors, a committee had been constituted to review the CCTV footage of the incident to identify those responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile, both groups pointed fingers at each other for the incident and demanded that the administration lodge FIRs against their rivals.
