SHABQADAR: A ten-year-old child was killed when a mortar shell exploded near the Pak-Afghan border in Mohmand Agency on Friday, officials of the Mohmand political administration confirmed. A political administration official told The Express Tribune that 10-year-old Hamza Abdul Sattar was collecting scrap in an uninhabited part of the Mohammad Kor Khwaizai area of the agency on Friday morning when he reportedly found an unexploded mortar. As the child handled the shell, it exploded. Hearing the loud boom, locals rushed to the spot and found the child in critical condition. He was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The official added that security forces and the bomb disposal squad had defused a few hidden shells in that very area on Thursday.
