This is exactly what students of the government-run Shaheed Hasnain Higher Secondary School in Peshawar experienced on Wednesday in an activity organized by Robokids and the Pakistan Alliance for Maths and Science.
Students from grade eight through 10 recreated some of the experiments they had been studying in their textbooks and developed technical models using their robotics kits.
The activity gave children an opportunity to brush up their ‘STEM’ skills under the guidance of experts in Robotics, Games Programming, Electronics and Mathematics, which they otherwise miss out on owing to a lack of resources and teaching expertise at the public school level.
“We really appreciate this methodology of practical sciences for the students to think about the classroom teachings,” said the school’s Principal Shabeer Ahmad.
“It was a fruitful activity and the students learned a lot,” exclaimed Science teacher Tufail Muhammad.
“I never thought I could learn science from such experiments,” said Adnan, one of the students of grade nine. “We learnt to use technology and I feel inspired to invent new technology to help Pakistan become a technologically advanced country,” the student added.
