Chinese ambassador meets CJP

Gives invitation to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

ISLAMABAD:
Ambassador of China in Pakistan Yao Jing met Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar in his chamber in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The bilateral relations of Pakistan and China in connection with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC) were discussed in the meeting.

The envoy also extended an invitation, on behalf of People of China, to CJP to visit China during Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conference.

Earlier the CJP Mian Saqib Nisar called a meeting of the registrars of provincial high courts and inspector generals of police of all provinces in Islamabad to discuss the issue of excessive delay in justice.

The meeting was also attended by other senior officials of the court.

Talking to the participants on the issue of delay, the CJP said that most of the processes need to be corrected.

He emphasized on improvements in the system through application of modern technology, so that prompt relief can be granted to aggrieved people.

He asked them to make concrete efforts to bring the house in order.

CJP also said that most criminal cases suffer on account of faulty investigations by Police and weak prosecution; thus, he directed measures for training to improve the standard of investigation and prosecution.

The meeting also discussed issues like conflicting service reports, illegible service reports, delay in submission of record, illegible FIR etc.
