PSQCA seals five illegal gas water geyser brands

Authority’s team also issued warning notices to shopkeepers

LAHORE: The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) launched an operation against illegal brands of gas home appliances and sealed five companies on Friday.

According to the authority’s spokesman, PSQCA Director General Engr Khalid Siddiq directed the authority staff to take stern action against the companies working illegally and involved in preparing substandard gas home appliances.

The special team of Conformity Assessment Central-II, including Administrative Officer Nadeem Chohan, Field Officer Aun Farooq and others, led by Deputy Director Asghar Ali, inspected Township market and sealed five brands of gas home appliances, which were involved in working without having PSQCA licence.

The team also issued warning notices to shopkeepers, who were also involved in selling fake brands.

Deputy Director Asghar Ali asked the shopkeepers to stop selling illegal brands; otherwise, their stocks would be confiscated.

It was the second action by the authority in the last three days. Two days ago, the PSQCA raided different parts of the city, including Johar Town, Punjab Housing Society, Wapda Town, Public Accounts Society, Naz Town, NFC Housing Society, Defence Road, Raiwind and other posh areas of the city and had sealed 11 bottled drinking water companies, which were working without acquiring PSQCA licence.

The teams also discarded huge quantity of stocks on the spot which had been kept in godowns.

The PSQCA director general said that the authority’s surveillance teams were continuously working to trace illegal manufacturers of different brands.
