Rescue 1122 achieves ‘all targets for 2017’

Service rescued 32,573 people, while 7,988 were provided first aid

BAHAWALPUR: Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 has achieved all its targets of 2017 in Bahawalpur.

This was stated by Divisional Emergency Officer Malik Asif Rahim Channar while addressing an annual review meeting on Thursday.

He said the control room received 441,490 phone calls in the last year and of them, 32,045 were related to emergency and average response time was 8.75 minutes.

Similarly, 9,370 road accidents, 446 fire incidents, two wall and building collapse incidents, one cylinder explosion, 839 quarrel incidents, 17,171 medical and 3,827 other emergencies were reported, he added. He maintained Rescue 1122 officials conducted an operation to rescue 29 people from drowning.

Channar continued that the service rescued 32,573 people, while 7,988 were provided first aid. Besides, 23,540 people, who were injured, were provided first aid and shifted to hospital. Asif Channar said 1,045 people lost their lives in emergency related incidents.

The divisional emergency officer said that during the dengue season, Rescue 1122 Bahawalpur organised several awareness seminars.
