Wheat: Punjab increases procurement target

Punjab has increased its wheat procurement target from 3.5 million tons to four million tons for the year 2011-12.

ISLAMABAD: Punjab has increased its wheat procurement target from 3.5 million tons to four million tons for the year 2011-12, Deputy Agriculture Development Commissioner of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (Minfa) Imtiaz Ahmad Gopang told APP on Monday.

He said that during the current wheat procurement campaign, food departments of provinces and the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Supplies Corporation (Passco) had procured about 976,247 tons against the total target of 6.57 million tons.
