Afridi to lead Pakistan in Asia Cup, England tour

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday appointed Shahid Afridi as captain for the upcoming Asia Cup and England tour on Tuesday.

This was revealed by Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ijaz Butt while talking exclusively to Express.

The Asia Cup will start in Sri Lanka from June 15 after which the Pakistani team will leave for England, where it will play against England and Australia in Twenty20, one day and test matches.

Meanwhile Afridi said he wants to focus more on his bowling in Test matches.

"I will focus more on my bowling as I think I can contribute more in this department than batting in the longer version of the game,'' said Afridi who reversed his self- exile from Test recently.

Pakistan will play two Test matches against Australia and four against England during their three-month long tour of Britain.

Although, he has disappointed with his captaincy in T20 World Cup, but still there is no one else in the team who can lead the side. So Afridi is the better option. Do you think Ban on Yousaf & Younis were justified? I would recommend you to read this article to know the issue better! Ban On Pak Cricketers Justifiable?

Well England made David beckham their captain when he still had a bad boy image so i suppose there arnt any issues with this onee just hope he does enough in the tests to justify his place in the line up. there was no other viable option for the captaincy anyway so i suppose Afridi deserves his shot too.
