Man poisons wife in Okara over domestic feud

A case has been registered at police station while investigation is underway

OKARA: A woman was allegedly poisoned by her husband over a domestic dispute in Okara, police said on Wednesday.

A police official told The Express Tribune that 30-year-old Sumaira, a resident of Taj Colony, Depalpur tied the knot with Abdul Ghaffar some four years back. He added that Sumaira had an argument with her husband over a domestic issue. As a result, she got annoyed and went to her parent’s house.

The official said that Abdul Ghaffar went to his in-laws’ house and after reconciliation, he brought Sumaira back home. On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly poisoned Sumaira which led to her death.

The police told The Express Tribune that initial postmortem report confirmed that the woman died due to poison. They said that a case had been registered at the police station while investigation was underway. However, no arrest has been made till filing of this report.

Earlier in 2017, a woman committed suicide after poisoning her two minor daughters in the limits of Jaranwala police station, Faisalabad.
